Get Rooted in Purpose
Before building anything lasting — whether wealth, health, or a new future — you must first anchor yourself in God’s purpose for your life. Purpose is the soil where self-sufficiency grows. Without it, you’ll find yourself drifting from one thing to another, never fully planting roots.
The Word of God tells us:
“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (Proverbs 16:3, KJV)
When you give your plans and dreams back to God, He not only establishes them, He also orders your steps so you can walk boldly in what He designed for you.
Start this step with prayer and reflection. Ask the Lord:
“Father, what calling have You placed on my life that I cannot ignore?”
“Where are my gifts meant to serve others and bring You glory?”
Take time to journal your answers. Write down those passions and burdens that stay heavy on your heart — the things you can’t walk away from because God has woven them into your very being.
Here are some spiritual and God-given gifts you may already carry:
Teaching – a gift to instruct, encourage, and make the Word or wisdom plain for others.
Creativity/Artistry – the ability to create beauty that inspires, heals, or draws others closer to God.
Leadership – guiding others with wisdom, courage, and integrity.
Encouragement/Exhortation – lifting people up when they’re weary, reminding them of God’s promises.
Discernment – sensing truth, clarity, and direction when others may be uncertain.
Hospitality/Service – creating spaces and experiences where others feel loved and valued.
Each of these gifts has a divine assignment tied to it. To discover yours, begin practicing them in your daily life and see where God multiplies your impact.
The apostle Paul reminds us:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10, KJV)
Your life is not random. You were crafted on purpose, for a purpose.
When you are rooted in purpose, you can withstand storms. Your decisions become clearer. And your work — whether business, ministry, or daily living — flows from the confidence that you are walking in the calling of God.
